Background...
Okay, have you ever made some kind of silly bet with an old college buddy? Well mine started like this:
We were talking about silly things that we like to do, and I have a wierd fascination with licence plates. I like seeing all the different kinds there are out there. So just like an old friend, JT claimed that he could collect more plates than I could and faster. Needless to say I had to take up the challenge! I tried to find some websites for licence plate trading, but they all seem to be set up around eventually getting you to buy something. I CAN'T do that for a couple of reasons: #1 it's against the rules (see below for more details), and #2 I'm broke. C'mon, why else do you think that I am using a FREE website? Because I am competitive, I decided to try and find a way to win..FAST! So I am here today asking for your help... to win a bet. RULES:
#1- NO PURCHASING!! That's right, nothing can be purchased. No eBay, no scavenging junkyards, no buying dinner in exchange. Everyplate must acquired as a gift or trade.
#2- NO STEALING!! Every plate must be received by legal means. This also means NO UNEXPIRED tags. If a licence plate is current, then there is the possibility of impropriety. That is a no no, and besides there could be legal implications, and neither of us want that. FURTHERMORE, IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE PLATETRADER DOES NOT ENCOURAGE, NOR WILL I ACCEPT ANY PLATES THAT ARE STOLEN OR NOT EXPIRED. #3- TRADES. Since we both have a few plates of our own, we can only offer in trade what we currently have. We do not want not licence plate trades so that there can be no claims of unfair advantages. #4- GIFTS- Yes, we can accept a free (ie: non-traded) tag. Of course we can. Otherwise I couldn't hit up family and friends from out of state. #5- WINNER: The rules are simple. The first one to have one plate from ALL 50 U.S. States (Okay... 47 states, 2 commonwwealths, and one republic if you want to get technical). There are no requirements for decade/year of plate, or special edition, or anything else. All I need is one offial plate issued by a local government from each state in the Union. Current count...
